Eric B. Travers: I am a senior from Vernon, British Columbia, majoring in English and Politics. I have lived in the United States since graduating from high school in 1990 and attended Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota, before transferring in 1992 to LFC. In the summer of 1993, I interned in Washington, D.C. for Iowa Congressman Jim Ross Lightfoot (RIA). The following summer I worked with Lake Forest Openlands, an environmental organization. I have combined these experiences and interests in politics and the environment in my senior thesis on the Endangered Species Act. I plan to enter law school in the fall of 1995 .... I was a member of the 1990 British Columbia First Team All Stars and the 1992 MIAC and Bethel College record holder in hockey. Knee injuries have mandated my retirement from competition, but I still volunteer as goaltender coach for the Lake Forest Academy prep hockey team. In my free time, I enjoy sleeping, coughing and cheese. I dedicate my essay to my dogs, Bert and Regis, and to the memory of Kelly. 35
