Abstract

This study uses drag scholarship and queer theory to analyze the building block of society: the family unit. Through content analysis and survey data this presentation examines how visual media, specifically the television show RuPaul’s Drag Race, has transformed the political structure of drag families as well as extended the notions of acceptance and collective identity to traditional family units.
