Presentation Title
Shades of Allyship
Location
Library Basement
Abstract
To discover the ways students perceive allyship, five students from identity groups that commonly suffer from discrimination were interviewed to determine what they perceive to be the role of allies in their lives and in society at large. A content analysis of these interviews resulted in a list of potential types allyship and ways of expressing allyship. This list suggests new ways for the college community to talk about allyship and opens new understandings of how to be an ally to members of disadvantaged identity communities.
